The purpose of this update is to provide a progress report on Inderjit Swarup, the little boy in New Delhi, India, featured on the ABC's Foreign Correspondent program in November 2005.
Since that program went to air, many kind Australians donated money to the AMAQ Foundation so that we could assist the ABC Office in New Delhi to provide urgent medical treatment for the boy.
It is pleasing to report that Inderjit has now had three operations in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, the last of these in December 2006. He is now recovering well and his treating doctor his very happy with his progress.
Inderjit has now commenced school and leads a fairly happy life with his father.
It may be of interest to know that the ABC will run a follow-up program on Inderjit to go to air on Foreign Correspondent at 9:20pm, Tuesday 1 may 2007. People may wish to check their local television guide and tune in.
The AMAQ Foundation is still accepting donations for the Inderjit case and any funds received will be dedicated 100 per cent to his ongoing medical care and schooling. Donations can be made online at www.amaqfoundation.org.au.
